A night where the stars of marketing shone brightest was at the ADVAN Awards for Marketing Excellence West Africa 2019. Molfix Baby Diaper for the second year running emerged the winner of the Brand of the Year awards.

The event which took place at the Muson Centre, Onikan Lagos, had in attendance top executives in the MarComm value chain. Also present at the event was Hon. Tunde Braimoh, Lagos House of Assembly who represented Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly

In her welcome address, ADVAN First Vice President, Bunmi Adeniba, explained that the growth of brands and advertising industry had shown that innovation and creativity drive business performance.

According to her, the latest released global innovation index puts Nigeria at 114th position among 129 countries considered, adding that government’s policy summersaults, harsh operating environment and other business challenges facing firms’ operations were the reasons for Nigeria’s inability to leapfrog in the international innovation space.

Adeniba said: There are three things that come from the industry we represent, which I am going to share with you. The first is that innovation drives business performance regardless of our industry. “The second is that creativity is at the heart of this innovation regardless of our industry and the third is adverts. So the summary of all I have said here is that for any business to grow, it must innovate, be creative and advert driven.
